Gombe State University has reopened its doors to students, following the settlement between staff unions and the the state especially the payment of Earned Academic Allowances and promotion arrears and so on.
At a press briefing sequel to a Senate meeting, acting Vice Chancellor Professor Sani Ahmed-Yauta, expressed his gratitude to Governor Muhammadu Yahaya for his swift intervention, which paved the way for the university’s reopening.
“We are deeply thankful to Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his prompt response to the needs and demands of our academic staff,” Ahmed-Yauta said. “His intervention was instrumental in facilitating the conditions necessary for us to resume educational services promptly.”
The Vice Chancellor also acknowledged the support of the government, parents, guardians, and the public. “We appreciate their continued patience and understanding during this period,” he added.

Ahmed-Yauta assured stakeholders of the university’s commitment to excellence. “We are dedicated to upholding high standards of academic service delivery, ensuring excellence in all aspects of our educational and administrative operations,” he emphasised.
He noted that GSU aims to provide an environment conducive to both academic and personal growth for its students. “We look forward to a productive and successful academic year ahead,” VC concluded.
