…As quality of work delights the chief scribe
The Secretary to Government of Gombe State, Professor Ibrahim Njodi, was on Thursday at Shongom, Kaltungo and Akko Local Government Areas to inspect ongoing construction and remodelling of the councils’ secretariats.
The SGS was equally in Gombe Local Government Area to supervise reconstruction work at the Idi shopping mall gutted by fire some seven years ago.
While at the Secretariat of Shongom LGA, the Director-General Joint Project Builder Mahmood Yusuf, took Njodi on a guided tour explaining to the chief scribe that despite the construction of a new office complex, existing structures within the council’s administrative perimeter will be given a facelift to bring them at par.
Responding, Njodi expressed satisfaction with the speed and quality of work that has been executed, challenging the contractor not to exceed the December 15 date line spelt out by Governor Muhammadu Yahaya.
Speaking to staff of the Council Professor Njodi advised them to take ownership of the project and suggest realistic ways to improve governance for the benefit of the people.
Earlier in an address of welcome, Secretary Shongom LGA Saidu Manzo, expressed gratitude to Governor Yahaya for deeming it necessary to give the Secretariat a facelift.
In Kaltungo Local Government Area the Director-General Joint Project told the SGS that some structural modifications were made on the Secretariat to enhance its aesthetics and convenience for staff and visitors alike.
The SGS expressed gratitude to governor for overhauling the secretariat and the contractor Engineer Idris Neare, for delivering the project according to agreed specifications.
He observed that when completed the Kaltungo Local Government Secretariat can stand shoulder to shoulder with any architectural masterpieces within and outside the state.
The councillor representing Tula Yiri ward Ishaku Mabe, who stood in for the chairman Iliya Suleiman, had while welcoming the SGS explained that the reconstruction of Kaltungo Local Government Area is a testament of Governor Yahaya’s unwavering commitment to the development of the state as a whole.
Speaking shortly after touring ongoing work at the Akko LGA Secretariat the Secretary to the State Government charged staff of the Local Government to justify government huge spending by taking care of structures.
The Secretary of Akko LGA Adamu Tashan, expressed gratitude to Governor Yahaya for summoning the political will to renovate the over 30 years old dilapidated council secretariat.
At the reconstruction site of a shopping mall in Idi owned by Gombe Local Government Area, Njodi commended the foresight of the council chairman Barrister Sani Haruna, to reconstruct the burnt down mall.
He observed that the economic benefits of the shopping mall cannot be overemphasised and therefore challenge the chairman of Gombe Local Government Area to work towards addressing the indebtedness associated with his council.
Haruna who doubles as the ALGON chairman Gombe State said considering the economic value of the shopping mall, the council wasted no time in submitting it as their priority project.
He said no effort will be spared to ensure that the project is delivered within record time and according to speciations.
Professor Njodi who was on the project inspection visit at the instance of Governor Yahaya was accompanied by the DG Joint Projects, Builder Mahmood Yusuf, the Perm Sec/ DG Bureau of Public Service Reforms Abubakar Hassan, and Builder Ahmed Sa’idu Gulli also a Permanent Secretary.
