The Women at Risk International Foundation is set to mark the 33rd anniversary of the global 16 days of activism against gender-based violence with its 6th annual Global WARIF No Tolerance March.

PUNCH Healthwise reports that the campaign, with the theme “UNiTE to end violence against women and girls,” calls for global solidarity to address gender-based violence and create lasting change.

According to a press statement by the foundation since its inception in 2019, the NTM has become a powerful symbol of collective action, rallying thousands of participants worldwide to stand with WARIF.

Dr Kemi DaSilva-Ibru, founder of WARIF, emphasised the importance of collective action in combating gender-based violence, saying “This campaign reminds us that change begins with all of us. Ending violence against women and girls requires bold and consistent actions from every sector of society. Together, we must unite, invest, and implement sustainable solutions to break this devastating cycle of abuse.”

She disclosed that proceeds from the NTMarch will support survivors of rape and sexual violence who seek free post-incident services at the WARIF Rape Crisis Centres, adding that the services include forensic medical examinations and treatment, psychosocial counselling, and social welfare needs such as shelter and legal aid.

“No Tolerance” to violence against women and girls. This year’s march will take place in multiple cities across three continents, including Lagos, Abuja, and Ibadan in Nigeria, as well as Johannesburg, Frankfurt, London, Manchester, New York, Houston, Minnesota, and Washington D.C.

“WARIF invites everyone to join the movement and amplify the message of the 6th Global WARIF No Tolerance March. Together, we can create a world where every woman and girl lives free from fear and violence,” the statement partly read.
