The Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Gombe State Command has held its first management meeting of 2025.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that the meeting held on Friday, January 10, 2025.
The meeting, led by the State Commandant, Commandant Gyama Gyawiya, brought together management staff to discuss strategic plans, goals, and objectives for the year.
According to a press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer SC Buhari Saad, Commandant Gyawiya expressed his sincere appreciation for the hard work and resilience of each officer, emphasising the critical role they play in maintaining stability and growth in the state.

The statement partly read, “Whether you are a Head of Department, Head of Unit, Area Commander, or a Divisional Officer, your efforts on the ground play a critical role in the stability and growth of our State. It is through your dedication and leadership that we are able to face the challenges in front of us with strength and unity.”
He tasked personnel to be vigilant, adaptive, and proactive in the face of ongoing challenges.
“As we convene today, let us take the opportunity to reflect on our achievements. We have made significant strides in improving coordination, enhancing response, and ensuring our operations are carried out efficiently. However, we are also keenly aware of the ongoing challenges in the field. We must remain vigilant, adaptive, and proactive as the landscape is always shifting,” he added.
The Commandant reflected on his achievements, including:
1. Refurbishing the Command’s Toyota Hilux to standard.
2. As a chartered mediator, he reconciled disputes between Ashaka Cement Company and Hijara communities, resulting in the resumption of operations by Ashaka Cement.
3. Securing approvals for the construction of a permanent office and staff quarters for Cham Division, Balanga Local Government Area.
4. Requesting and obtaining approval for one vehicle each for Billiri and Balanga Divisions.
5. Successfully training 178 personnel on arms and weapons handling, with the trained personnel undergoing range stimulation/classification exercises.
6. Visiting Ashaka Cement Company regarding inadequate payment of monthly allowances for NSCDC personnel.
7. Requesting and obtaining approval for the review of monthly allowances for NSCDC personnel working with Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED).
8. Creating two new divisions, Kamo and Tula, in Kaltungo Local Government due to insecurity challenges in the areas.
9. Requesting and obtaining approval for solar power installations for the Command State Headquarters from the North East Development Commission (NEDC).
10. Undertaking a familiarisation tour in the state to improve synergy with traditional and local government administrations.
11. Retrieving and refurbishing a vehicle from Kolmani, purchasing four new tires to enhance operational capacity.
12. Resolving all litigations against the Corps in the state during his tenure.
13. Building good relationships with critical stakeholders, including:
– Independent Petroleum Marketers Association (IPMAN)
– National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO)
– North East Development Commission (NEDC)
– Miners
– Fertiliser Distribution/Sellers Association
14. Furnishing the State Commandant’s Office with executive cushions.
15. Gadam Division receiving a new Toyota Hilux, along with a cash donation to repair the Division.
16. Obtaining additional armaments from the National Headquarters (NHQ) to enhance operational capabilities in safeguarding life and prosperity in the state.
17. Building good relationships with elected members of the National Assembly in the state.
18. Successfully aiding the transportation of NSCDC personnel to Zamfara State for National assignment, despite the Command lacking a sound operational vehicle.
Riot Act
The Commandant also read out the following Riot Act to all personnel under his command:
1. Warning all officers and men regarding legal actions against the Corps.
2. Expecting nothing less than 100% commitment from all personnel.
3. Calling on all personnel to take responsibility seriously and demonstrate dedication to duties.
4. Emphasising that all personnel must demonstrate high levels of commitment.
5. Making Monday and Friday briefings mandatory for all officers and men of the Command, including:
– Area Commander Gombe Central and 2ic
– Divisional Officer Gombe and 2ic
– Head of CTU and 2ic
– Head of RRS and 2ic
The State Commandant, concluded by affirming that the focus for 2025 is to consolidate gains in crime prevention, improve safety and security, and to protect critical assets.
He equally extended gratitude to the Commandant General, Dr Ahmad Abubakar Audi, for his guidance and overall support.
The Commandant appealed to the general public to continue providing timely and accurate information.
