Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, has approved the appointment of a new Governing Council for Gombe State University, with Professor Baba Yusuf Abubakar as Chairman.
Our correspondent reports that the appointment is a sequel to the expiration of Barrister Joshua Lidani led council.
The appointments, conveyed by the Secretary to the Government of Gombe State, Professor Ibrahim Njodi, take effect from January 18, 2025.
The letter noted that the appointment is a significant step towards strengthening the university’s governance structure and ensuring its continued growth and development.
The appointment letter partly read, “I am pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Baba Yusuf Abubakar as the Chairman of the Governing Council of Gombe State University.Professor Abubakar is a renowned academic with extensive experience in university administration, and I am confident that he will provide the necessary leadership to ensure the continued growth and development of the university.”
The new Governing Council members include Engr. Idriss Abdullahi Kwami, Prof. Caleb Kudi, Barr. Maljengo M. Kaltungo, and Prof. Mairo Abdullahi, among others.
“The new Governing Council members were carefully selected for their expertise in academia, law, engineering, and public service. I am confident that they will work together to uphold Gombe State University’s reputation as a hub of academic excellence in Nigeria,” the statement added.
