Lieutenant General Lamidi Adeosun of Nigeria and Brigadier General Mike Mukokomani of Botswana have been named winners of the prestigious TY Buratai Excellence Award in Military Leadership, according to the OurNigeria Awards 2024.

Lieutenant General Lamidi Adeosun has been a pillar of strength and strategy in the Nigerian Armed Forces, playing a pivotal role in combating security challenges across Nigeria and the West African sub-region. Known for his tactical brilliance and exceptional leadership, Lt-Gen. Adeosun has contributed immensely to enhancing Nigeria’s military capacity and fostering regional stability.
Brigadier General Mike Mukokomani of Botswana has earned accolades for his outstanding contributions to military leadership and regional security in Southern Africa. His leadership exemplifies professionalism, innovation, and a deep commitment to the principles of military ethics and nation-building.
The TY Buratai Excellence Award in Military Leadership, named in honour of Nigeria’s former and longest serving Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd), aims to inspire African leaders to uphold the values of discipline, innovation, and collaboration in addressing contemporary security challenges.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 30 January 2024, at the Abuja Continental Hotel, Nigeria. The event will bring together leaders from various sectors, including government, military, business, and civil society, to celebrate excellence and inspire progress across Africa.
