The OurNigeria News Awards 2024 has announced the nomination of Nigerian football star and Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, for the Philanthropist of the Year award.
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that this prestigious nomination recognises Musa’s exceptional commitment to community development and his dedication to giving back to society.

Musa’s journey to stardom is a testament to his hard work and determination. Born on October 14, 1992, in Jos, Plateau State, he began his professional football career with JUTH FC before moving to Kano Pillars. His exploits in Nigeria attracted international attention, leading to his transfer to VVV-Venlo in the Netherlands in 2011.
Musa’s career peaked during his time at CSKA Moscow, where he won multiple domestic league titles and showcased his talent on the UEFA Champions League stage. He made history as the first Nigerian to join English Premier League side Leicester City in 2016.
On the international stage, Musa is revered for his exploits with the Super Eagles, representing Nigeria in multiple African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments and two FIFA World Cups. He remains the only Nigerian to score a brace in a World Cup match, a feat he achieved against Iceland in 2018.
Musa’s nomination in the Philanthropy Category is a testament to his profound impact beyond football. Speaking about the nomination, the Publisher of OurNigeria News Magazine, Dr. Abubakar Sani, lauded Musa’s efforts, stating: “Ahmed Musa is a true role model whose actions remind us that greatness is not only measured by achievements but also by the lives we touch. His dedication to improving the lives of Nigerians reflects the highest ideals of leadership and humanity.”
