Nigerians have called on U.S. President Donald Trump to facilitate the release of records linking Bola Tinubu, to heroin trafficking and financial misconduct in the 1990s.

The tweet, made by a concerned Nigerian Alakowe, on X, formerly Twitter, drew attention to an investigative report by renowned journalist David Hundeyin.

The renowned journalist reports Tinubu’s involvement in financial activities in Chicago during the 1990s, reportedly linked to drug money involving the Akande family.

Claims that Tinubu forfeited significant sums of money in the United States as part of an investigation into heroin trafficking.

These continue revelations have fueled growing demands for accountability and transparency regarding Tinubu’s financial history and political dealings.

These have long been a subject of public discourse in Nigeria, with citizens urging international agencies and governments to shed light on the matter.

Adding to the controversy is the claim that the FBI holds over 2,500 documents relating to Tinubu in its database.

Reports suggest that the release of these files, initially expected in October 2023, has faced delays for undisclosed reasons.

The tweet directed at Trump, who himself has faced legal and political scrutiny, underscores the desperation of Nigerians seeking external intervention in their fight for justice.

It reflects growing public frustration with perceived inaction by local authorities in addressing such serious allegations.

Whether or not this plea garners the desired response, it amplifies the call for greater global attention to accountability and transparency in Nigerian politics.

while reacting to the tweet, Nigerians express gratitude if the files would be released soon as @Tomide_ said, Yes sir @realDonaldTrump Please take this seriously because Joe Biden admin seemed complicit. They made sure Nigerians were denied of the much needed evidence until it was too late. Now we have Drug lord & certificate forger as president and he’s likely to remain there till 2031.

@Georgemcbomb tweeted, “@realDonaldTrump, I join other million Nigerians and appeal u grant us this request

@Fyfics noted, “I seconded this, and in fact will expect us; concerned Nigerians, to start a petition process, signed by millions of Nigeria requesting for the release of this documents and that of every political office holder in Nigeria today.”

“My dearest @realDonaldTrump in my commitment to making the world a safer place, No Druggie should be allowed to continue destroying lives, ur VP @JDVance can tell U better the Traumer of being a Victim. Let every Druggie be prosecuted. #SaveThePlanet frm Druggies,” @queensomto said.

@kingsolkem wrote, “Nigerians and Africans across the world will thank and glorify God Almighty the creation of @realDonaldTrump @POTUS if he ever does this. God bless America.”

@Jonatha48397412 said, “I think it’s time to beg Donald J T to direct the crooked CIA and FBI to release all the file about BAT, There should be online petition by 100k Nigerian citizens who are concerned to sign it.”
