The Director General of the National Sports Commission, Bukola Olopade, has arrived in Malaysia to rally support for the Nigeria U19 Cricket team competing in the ICC T20 U19 Cricket World Cup.
“We want to ensure every sport gets supported in the best way possible, growing alongside the commission,” Olopade said, emphasizing the NSC’s commitment to promoting cricket and other lesser-known sports in Nigeria.
The Nigeria U19 Cricket team has been making waves in the tournament, recording a historic win over cricket giant New Zealand. Olopade praised the team’s performance, saying, “I am happy that even before I came here, the performance of the girls so far at this World Cup is already generating so much excitement back home, which is very good for the growth of the sport.”
The NSC, under the chairmanship of Mallam Shehu Dikko, is dedicated to providing support to all sports in the country. Olopade reiterated this commitment, stating, “At the Sports Commission, we are paying full attention to all the sports, and I am happy to be here to support the team.”
With the DG’s arrival, the Nigeria U19 Cricket team is poised to receive a significant morale boost as they continue to compete in the tournament.
