A tragic incident occurred in Kaltungo, Gombe State, where a 16-year-old girl, Maryam Samuel, took her own life by hanging herself from a tree.
According to DSP Buhari Abdullahi, Police Public Relations Officer, Gombe State Police Command, “On 14/03/2025, at about 0900hrs, a case of suicide was reported at Kaltungo Divisional Headquarters, where Maryam Samuel, a 16-year-old girl from Kalarin ward, was seen hanged with a rope on a tree at Kalarin mountain.”
Abdullahi stated that no marks of violence were found on her body, and the lifeless body was removed to General Hospital Kaltungo.
He added, “The family members were invited, and the investigation revealed that the deceased left home on 13/03/2025 to go and fetch firewood from the nearby bush.”
The police are still investigating the root cause of the incident. Abdullahi said, “Investigation is ongoing to ascertain the root cause.”
