Nigerian musician Eedris Abdulkareem has criticised Chief Bola Tinubu’s administration following the National Broadcasting Commission’s (NBC) decision to ban his new song, Tell Your Papa, from airplay.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, the veteran singer described the government as “vindictive, insensitive and destructive,” accusing it of stifling free expression and failing to address Nigeria’s deepening economic crisis.

The NBC, in a notice issued to all broadcast stations on April 9, said the song violates Section 3.1.8 of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code and should be classified as “Not To Be Broadcast” (NTBB). The commission raised concerns over the song’s lyrical content, which criticises the Tinubu-led administration.
Reacting to the ban, Abdulkareem said, “It’s obvious that in Nigeria, truth and constructive criticism is always deemed as a big crime by the government.”
“This present government led by President Bola Tinubu is now going on record as one of the most insensitive, vindictive and grossly maleficent administrations ever to preside over the affairs of Nigeria.”
He lamented the rising cost of living and worsening economic conditions, stating, “Just under two years of his presidency, and the results are just frighteningly abysmal from all fronts.”
He added, “And this is a fact, known by all Nigerians, irrespective of religion, tribe and political affiliations, except for the few happy slaves grovelling for crumps from their paymaster’s table!”
