The Gombe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (GoHealth) has added yet another feather to its illustrious cap as it was named the Best Health Insurance and Managed Care Government Agency on Monitoring and Evaluation by the Institute of Health Insurance and Managed Care of Nigeria (IHIMN).

This was contained in a press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer Mr Dairus Samson, obtained by PERISCOPE NIGERIA in Gombe.
According to him, the award was presented during a colourful ceremony attended by key stakeholders in Nigeria’s health sector, dignitaries, and development partners.
The event, held to celebrate excellence in health insurance and managed care, saw GoHealth recognised for its outstanding dedication and vigilance in data collection, analysis, reporting, and programme monitoring and evaluation-pillars critical to achieving improved health outcomes and accountability.
Samson noted that the Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Dr Yusuf Tanko Sununu presented the award on behalf of the Institute.
Dr Sununu was quoted to have applauded Gombe State for its groundbreaking strides in healthcare delivery and innovation in expanding access to quality health services. He particularly noted the role of GoHealth in driving the state’s health agenda towards the attainment of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
“This award is a testament to what is possible when leadership, innovation, and data-driven management intersect. Gombe State, through GoHealth, has set the bar high, and I encourage the team to return next year to claim a similar honour,” Sununu stated in the statement.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Executive Secretary of GoHealth, Dr Abubakar Musa, was GoHealth’s Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, Tanimu Umar who was supported by two notable representatives from Gombe State: Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General, Press Affairs, Government House; and Dr. Jamilu Jafaru, Director-General, International Relations and Abuja Liaison Office.
The honour was met with joy and pride as it signified national recognition of GoHealth’s strategic and operational excellence.
Also in attendance was Dr Salma Ibrahim Anas, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Health, who represented the President at the event as Special Guest of Honour. Dr Anas reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening health insurance systems across the country and praised states contributory healthcare agencies for their efforts in setting a standard for the attainment of Universal Health Coverage in Nigeria.
The statement added that GoHealth’s commitment to accountability, data management, and continuous programme evaluation has made it a model for other states, attracting attention from both national and international health development institutions adding that the agency continues to leverage technology, community engagement, and robust governance frameworks to deliver equitable and affordable healthcare to the people of Gombe State.
“This award adds to the growing list of accolades for GoHealth and serves as a motivation for continued efforts toward building a resilient and inclusive health insurance ecosystem in Nigeria,” the statement concluded.
