Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Yahaya, on Friday warmly welcomed the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream I Corps Members to the state, encouraging them to embrace the diversity that exists within the communities they will serve.

Our correspondent reports that no fewer than 1,456 corps members were administered oath of allegiance by Chief Judge of Gombe State Justice Halima Mohammed, who was represented by Justice Fatimah Musa.

Represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Inuwa Adamu at the formal opening and swearing-in ceremony of the corps members at the NYSC Temporary in Amada, Akko Local Government Area said “As you serve our nation in Gombe State, I encourage you to embrace the diversity that exists within our communities and use your time in Gombe to learn, grow and contribute positively to the development of our dear state.”
The governor emphasised the importance of embracing diversity, noting that it is a crucial aspect of national unity and integration. “By embracing our differences and celebrating our unique cultures, we can build stronger, more resilient communities that benefit everyone,” he added.
Yahaya expressed his delight in having the corps members in Gombe State, saying, “We are delighted to have you here at the NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp, Government Science Technical College, Amada, Akko LGA, as you commence your national service.”
He congratulated the corps members on completing their academic pursuits and successfully inducting into the National Youth Service Corps Scheme, saying, “On behalf of the government and people of Gombe State, I congratulate you on completing your academic pursuits and successfully inducting into the National Youth Service Corps Scheme.”
The governor assured the corps members of the state government’s commitment to ensuring their safety, welfare, and comfort during the orientation period and beyond. “As you settle into the camp, I assure you that the State Government is committed to ensuring your safety, welfare, and comfort during the orientation period and beyond,” he said.
Governor Yahaya urged the corps members to participate actively in the orientation course, saying, “I urge you to participate actively and pay attention to the teachings and training, which will help you realize your potentials and achieve individual feats.”
He saluted the NYSC scheme, which was established over five decades ago to promote national unity and integration. “I salute the scheme that was established over five decades to promote national unity and integration, and I have no doubt that each and every one of you has a role to play in achieving this objective,” he said.

Enjoy your orientation programme, and I wish you a fruitful, fulfilling and successful service year,” he said.
Also speaking, Coordinator Chinwe Nwachuku, noted that as at close of registration on Thursday, 1, 456 corps members were registered comprising 868 males and 588 females hailed the participants.
“My dear Prospective Corps Members, the orientation course is the first of the four cardinal programmes of the NYSC. Others are Primary Assignment, Secondary Assignment or Community Development Service and finally, the winding up and passing out ceremony.
“The orientation course marks the beginning of what we hope will be an exciting journey as a member of the National Youth Service Corps. It also aims at introducing you to the objectives and programmes of the scheme and prepare you for the task of the service year through training on Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development, leadership training, paramilitary drills and other physical activities as well as sensitisation on topical national issues.
“It is also an avenue that provides the opportunity for you to realise your potentials and attain individuals’ feats both during and after the service year.”
Nwachuku urged them to obey laws and traditions of the people wherever they are posted “Once more, I welcome you the prospective Corps Members to Gombe State and wish you an enriching orientation course experience. I enjoin you to live freely in the state while obeying the laws and traditions of the people wherever you may be posted. I assured you that most of you like me, will not leave Gombe at the end of your stay,” she added.
