Comrade Victor Ojei, popularly known as Wong Box, has resigned as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Civil Societies and NGOs, citing the lack of progress in implementing projects that benefit the people of Delta State.

In his resignation letter, Wong Box expressed his disappointment with the government’s approach, stating that despite his efforts to attract international developmental partners, NGOs, and innovation, his proposals were consistently stalled and ignored.
“Every single effort to attract international developmental partners, NGOs, and innovation was stalled and dumped into KIVIV (Keep in View). What should have been a movement for progress became a standstill,” Wong Box said.
He criticized the government’s focus on “kinetic security” rather than using technology to protect lives and property. “Where is the non-kinetic security architecture we so passionately advocated for — the use of AI-driven CCTV in ungoverned spaces of our state to protect lives and property?” he asked.
Wong Box also expressed his frustration with the lack of tangible benefits for the average Deltan. “From 1999 to date, not one tangible thing comes into the pocket of the average Deltan monthly. Not one policy guarantees their safety. Not one hope touches their roof,” he said.
Despite his resignation, Wong Box emphasized that he will continue to advocate for the people of Delta State. “I may have resigned the position, but I have not resigned my passion. I have not resigned from Delta State. I have not resigned from the hearts of the people,” he said.
Wong Box also clarified that he will not be joining the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that he is a socio-political activist who stands with truth and the people, not with the highest bidder. “I will never toy with the destiny of the people of Delta State. My loyalty lies with them, not with any party or position,” he said.
The resignation of Wong Box has sparked a reaction among Deltans, with many calling for the government to take concrete steps to address the state’s challenges. As one of the most vocal critics of the government’s approach, Wong Box’s resignation is seen as a significant blow to the administration’s efforts to promote transparency and accountability.
“I want to state it clear: I will not cross carpet from PDP to APC. I am not a politician; I am a socio-political activist. I stand with truth and with the people, not with the highest bidder,” Wong Box said, emphasizing his commitment to the people of Delta State.
Wong Box concluded his resignation letter by stating, “Let it be known that Comrade Victor Ojei (Wong Box) stood when others bowed. That I chose the people, even when the palace doors were open. May God bless Delta State. May He bless the dreams of every suffering Deltan. And may He give us the courage to fight for a better tomorrow.”
