Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has urged security agencies to track down and bring to justice the unidentified gunmen responsible for the ambush and killing of two Chinese miners and a police officer at a mining site in Uturu, Abia State.
The Abia State Police Command confirmed the incident on Saturday.
In a statement released on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, Governor Otti expressed outrage over the brutal and unprovoked attack on innocent individuals.
He reassured the people of Abia that his administration would fully support security agencies in ensuring that those behind the killings are not allowed to escape justice.
Governor Otti emphasized that his government is committed not only to fostering a conducive environment for business and economic activities but also to safeguarding lives and property by continuously supporting security efforts across the state.
He condemned the attack, describing it as an act of terrorism that must be denounced by all people of good conscience.
Otti also announced plans to strengthen security collaboration with neighboring states to build a robust security network that will prevent criminals from crossing into Abia to carry out violent crimes, as seen in this case.
He extended his condolences to the Nigerian Police Force, the Chinese Embassy, and the families of the victims of the Uturu attack.
