The General Overseer of a new-generation church in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, identified as Elijah, has been arrested by the police over allegations of homosexuality.
Sources revealed that the cleric, whose church is located on Eagle Island, Port Harcourt, found himself in trouble after videos of him engaging in the act were leaked by a man he allegedly attempted to engage with.
Reports indicate that the man, in an effort to gather evidence, pretended to comply with the pastor’s advances.
He reportedly recorded a nude video of the cleric while being intimate with him and later demanded sex.
According to a source who pleaded anonymity, “We don’t know how the Octopus Strike Force of the Rivers State got the video and started trailing the pastor. The pastor is from Rivers State here.
“So, during the investigation, the officers acting on credible intelligence trailed the cleric.
Our correspondent learned that during interrogation, the cleric admitted to providing useful information to the police regarding his activities involving both adult men and minors in and around Port Harcourt.
When reached for comment, the spokesperson for the state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the pastor’s arrest on Tuesday and stated that an investigation was underway.
Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police, said the pastor was arrested last Friday, pointing out that already the matter had been transferred to a court
She said, “Yes, I can confirm the pastor’s arrest. He is in custody and under investigation. In fact, he has been charged to court.”
