Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, has reiterated that he is not in a personal battle with Bola Tinubu, but is instead focused on confronting the pressing challenges facing Nigeria.
Speaking during a recent interview with Channels Television, Obi stated that his mission is to combat bad governance, hunger, poverty, and the lack of access to healthcare and education in the country.

While some speculated tensions between the two political figures, Obi insisted that he holds no grudges. “I’m not fighting anybody. My fight is against bad governance, against hunger, against poverty, against out-of-school children,” he said.
“Politics for me is not about position. It’s about doing the right thing,” he added.
He criticised the Tinubu administration for failing to adequately fund basic education and healthcare, stressing that governance must prioritize people’s welfare.
“This country has less than 10% health insurance. It should be 100%. These teachers teaching here should be paid by the government because it’s universal basic education,” Obi said during a visit to a local school.
He maintained that his advocacy is driven by the need to restore dignity to governance and improve the living conditions of Nigerians. “I’m in coalition against hunger, in coalition against poverty, in coalition for good health.
What we should be talking about is how we’re going to educate these children,” he emphasised, dismissing political distractions in favor of development-focused dialogue.
