Former U.S. President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with a severe form of prostate cancer, according to a statement issued by his personal office on Sunday.
“Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms,” the statement disclosed.
It further stated, “On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterised by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone.”
The statement elaborated, “While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management. The President and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians.”
This announcement comes a few months after Mr. Biden left office and transferred leadership to President Donald Trump.
At 82, Mr. Biden had withdrawn from the re-election campaign amid mounting pressure from party members concerned about his mental sharpness.
