The Taraba State Judicial Service Commission has approved the promotion of 541 judicial staff and appointed key officials into acting capacities as part of efforts to enhance efficiency within the state’s judiciary.
The decision was made during the Commission’s 124th meeting, held on Friday, May 16, 2025, in Jalingo and presided over by the Chief Judge of Taraba State, Hon. Justice Joel Agya.
In a statement signed by the Commission’s Secretary, Barr. Talatu Abubakar Jen, and made available to our correspondent, the JSC noted that the staff promotions and appointments were aimed at strengthening the administrative framework of the judiciary in the state.
According to the statement, Christian Jonah was appointed as Acting Chief Registrar, Customary Court of Appeal, while Absolom Peter Jen, was named acting Deputy Chief Registrar, Customary Court of Appeal.
Other appointments include Nadunya B. Gamiya as Acting Director of Audit, High Court of Justice, and Peter Inusa Ngai as acting Director of Personnel Management, Customary Court of Appeal.
In addition, the Commission constituted a Promotion and Disciplinary Committee to oversee matters relating to staff performance and discipline. The committee is composed of the following members:

Hon. Adamu Sani Kona – Member
Barr. Talatu Abubakar Jen – Member
Mr. Yakubu A. Shadrach – Secretary
The Commission emphasised its commitment to improving judicial service delivery and ensuring that qualified personnel are recognised and given opportunities to serve.
