Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of Persons with Disability in a manner that ensures equal opportunity and inclusion.

The governor made this known through the Secretary to Government of the State, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, when he received the Chairman and members of the newly established Gombe State Commission for Persons with Disability.
This was contained in a press statement signed by Joshua Danmalam, Information Officer SGS’ office Gombe.
He described the establishment of the commission as timely and necessary, given the significant population of Persons with Disability and their contributions to the development of the State.
“The creation of this commission is a crucial step in recognising and addressing the concerns of Persons with Disability. Our administration remains focused on ensuring their welfare and providing them with equal opportunities,” the governor stated.
He urged the management of the commission to work as a team, emphasizing that their strength lies in the ability to coordinate, harmonize, and project the aspirations of their members.
Regarding office accommodation for the commission, the Governor’s representative disclosed that the State Government is considering allocating the current Shari’a Court of Appeal premises to the commission once the court relocates to its permanent headquarters.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Gombe State Commission for Persons with Disability, Dr Ishaku Adamu, expressed gratitude to Governor Inuwa Yahaya for not only signing the Persons with Disability Act into law but also for establishing the commission to harmonise and project the needs and aspirations of PWDs in the State.
He noted that, “This singular gesture is a clear manifestation of Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of all citizens of the State, irrespective of their social or economic status.”
Adamu also extended appreciation to the Secretary to the State Government for his continued support before, during, and after the passage of the PWD Act and the subsequent establishment of the commission.
