The town of Malala, one of the largest districts under the Dukku Emirate in Gombe State, came alive on Monday as dignitaries from across the state gathered to witness the turbaning ceremony of Alhaji Danladi Adamu Malala, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, Housing, and Transport.
Alhaji Danladi was conferred with the prestigious traditional title of “Sarkin Sudan Malala” by the District Head of Malala, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Malala, in recognition of his contributions to the development of the area and the state at large.
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, was represented at the ceremony by the Secretary to Government of the State, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, who conveyed the governor’s heartfelt congratulations to the honoree.
The governor said, “The conferment of this title is a reflection of Alhaji Danladi’s humility, dedication to service, and his invaluable contributions to both Malala District and Gombe State. Governor Inuwa Yahaya appreciates the District Head for recognizing and honouring a dedicated public servant from his administration.”
He also used the occasion to thank the people of Malala and Dukku Local Government Area for their overwhelming support during the last election, assuring them that the current administration remains committed to the infrastructural and socio-economic development of the area.
He urged the newly turbaned traditional titleholder to continue serving with loyalty, focus, and integrity, emphasising that his new role is both an honour and a responsibility.
Describing Alhaji Danladi as a “perfect gentleman and a seasoned civil servant,” the governor praised his track record and dedication to public service, noting that Gombe State has greatly benefited from his commitment.

In his address, the District Head of Malala, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Malala, explained that the title was bestowed on Danladi Adamu in recognition of his enduring support and developmental strides in the community.
“We are proud to honour one of our illustrious sons who has consistently shown commitment to the betterment of Malala and its people. We call on him to sustain this spirit of service for the continuous progress of our district,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Alhaji Sani Adamu Malala expressed deep gratitude to the traditional institution for the honour and pledged their continued support and loyalty to the leadership of the district and the state.
He also extended appreciation to Governor Yahaya for appointing Danladi Adamu as a Permanent Secretary, stating that the administration has brought tangible development not only to Malala but across Gombe State.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, Hon. Ahmed Waziri, Chairman of Dukku Local Government Council, congratulated the new Sarkin Sudan and welcomed guests who travelled from near and far to attend the event.
The ceremony was attended by top government officials, including members of the Gombe State House of Assembly, the Head of Service, and commissioners for finance, works, housing, transport, environment, and forestry, alongside several Permanent Secretaries.
