Mwalin Abdu has been selected as a Fellow for the Gender-Responsive Education Budgeting and Spending (GREBS) initiative, an esteemed programme by Invictus Africa aimed at advancing equitable education financing.
In a personal announcement shared on LinkedIn and sighted by PERISCOPE NIGERIA, Abdu expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity.

Abdu is the current Vice Chairperson Nigerian Bar Association Gombe State Branch and she is currently gender desk officer Ministry of Justice.
She described the fellowship as a powerful platform to further her advocacy for inclusive and fair education policies that prioritize the needs of all genders, particularly girls and marginalized communities.

The announcement partly read, “Education is the foundation of progress, and budgeting with a gender lens is crucial to dismantling barriers that hinder many.
“I’m committed to driving change by promoting transparency, equity, and accountability in education spending.”
Our correspondent reports that the GREBS fellowship equips advocates with tools and knowledge to influence policy and ensure education budgets reflect the diverse needs of learners.
Abdu emphasised the importance of gender-responsive financing in building thriving communities and sustainable national development.

“Join me on this journey to build a future where every learner has access to quality education—because when education budgets are gender-responsive, communities thrive, and nations develop,” she added.
Through this fellowship, Abdu joins a cohort of changemakers working to ensure that education funding is not only efficient but also just and inclusive.
