A coalition under the aegis of United Group to Save Gombe State from the Menace of APC on Friday night described the current administration as incompetent.
Our correspondent reports that membership cuts across Peoples Democratic Party, African Democratic Congress, Social Democratic Party, and Labour Party.
Convener of the group, Jibrin Barde, who was 2023 gubernatorial candidate of the PDP, said the motive is to ensure development.
Barde decried lack of infrastructure, noting that current administration under the All Progressives Congress has derailed, stressing that the country and the state fare poorly.
He said, “We want to send the incompetent APC government packing out of Gombe Government House. This is also an offshoot of what is happening at the national level. The opposition is uniting they have united and rising up to unite for one sole purpose of securing our country and bring about the needed development our country so much needs.”
Continuing Barde added, “Our children are suffering, there is high level of insecurity all over the country and you are aware the level of infrastructure we have is completely dilapidated. You have gone round and seen our hospitals schools and therefore our traders lack capital required to run their businesses not do they have any form of support.”
He added, “We believe that to bring purposeful leadership, the opposition must unite, the members of the public must come together to ensure we go all out as it’s not about an individual. This is a clarion, for any person of conscience to be able to take out this incompetent APC government out of office.”
On his interest ahead of 2027 Barde added, “things are just emerging it’s not about one personality, no one single ambition is above the state and people of the state, it’s about people not about one person. Our single goal is to bring every individual together under one umbrella to bring about the right leadership required at this point in time.”
On his part, Modibbo Adamu, Chairman of Social Democratic Party called on residents to support the group’s drive saying “It’s not about the individual but I want to assure you; we are going to do everything humanly possible to see that we send APC out of Government House in Gombe.”
“I want to assure you all the sacrifices that needs to be done, we are going to do it but I can’t talk about the coalition. The issue is at the national level and I’m not authorised to speak on behalf of the SDP but in Gombe State I want to assure you that we are ready, we have started discussing. This is United Group to Save Gombe State,” the chairman added.
