In a bold move to address the country’s lingering political and leadership crises, a socio-political advocacy group, New Nigeria Movers, has proposed the 2025 National Political Revival Conference and Rally. The initiative is aimed at ending the divide-and-rule system and tackling the dearth of credible leadership in Nigeria.
According to the group, the proposed conference and rally form part of a broader vision to reposition Nigeria on the path of relevance, progress, and national unity. In a statement jointly signed by Comrade Idegu Ojonugwa Shadrach, the group’s National Publicity Secretary; Comrade (Engr) Joshua Onipede, Lagos State Chapter Coordinator; and Comrade (Elder) Samuel Olaleye, President of NNM, the event is conceived as a means of rejuvenating national values, not an end in itself.
They noted that as the world rapidly evolves through science, technology, and innovation, Nigeria risks irrelevance if it fails to keep pace. The organizers stressed that the development of tools, equipment, and practices across various professions globally is a direct result of education, research, and dedication to progress. They argued that for Nigeria to matter in the global community, it must embrace new thinking and discard outdated systems.
The 2025 National Political Revival Conference and Rally is envisioned as a catalyst for a national rebirth. It is designed to strengthen family and social bonds, promote quality living, encourage responsible leadership and governance, and confront insecurity, falsehood, indiscipline, and the lack of transparency in public institutions. The campaign also aims to bring comfort, joy, and lasting relief to Nigerians by stabilizing national systems and inspiring meaningful public service.
As part of the planned activities, professional artists, artisans, musicians, and actors will showcase their talents to underscore the message of unity and leadership renewal. Lectures on the dangers of divide-and-rule politics and the consequences of poor leadership will be delivered by respected resource persons. In addition, public rallies are scheduled to take place across all 36 states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory.
The New Nigeria Movers believe this effort will rekindle hope, especially among the youth, and allow older generations to experience the true dividends of democracy. With public trust in political and judicial institutions significantly eroded, the group hopes the conference and rally will serve as a platform for reform, healing, and national reawakening.
Expressing optimism, the group stated that the New Nigeria project and vision could lead to the cleansing and beautification of the country’s image, removing the pain and hardship many citizens currently face and ushering in a new era of transformation.
“For us, this is a call to action, a vision to revive Nigeria from its prolonged slumber. To God Almighty be the glory forever,” the statement concluded.
