…as school marks 13th annual speech and prize-giving day
The Pen Resource Academy, Gombe, recently held its 13th Annual Speech and Prize-Giving Day for its Nursery and Primary Section, celebrating a vibrant blend of academic excellence, moral development, and practical skills acquisition among its young pupils.







The colorful ceremony attracted a large audience of proud parents, dedicated teachers, well-wishers, and dignitaries. Among them was the Deputy Governor of Gombe State, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau,who graced the event in a dual role — as a special guest and a proud parent, with his daughter among the graduating pupils.
In his keynote address, Dr Jatau commended the Academy’s unwavering commitment to nurturing both intellect and character, hailing it as a model for private education in the state. He stressed that the transformation of the education sector is a shared responsibility and called on individuals, especially the affluent, to support government efforts in building a robust and inclusive educational system.
“The school’s emphasis on intellectual development, moral discipline, and vocational training perfectly aligns with our administration’s holistic vision for education,” Dr Jatau said.
He further referenced the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park in Dadinkowa, established by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, as a strategic initiative aimed at empowering youth with industrial and entrepreneurial skills necessary for self-reliance and long-term growth.
Also speaking at the occasion was the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Aishatu Umar Maigari, represented by Abdulmumini Umar Kwami. She congratulated the school’s management, staff, and students on a successful academic year, praising their efforts in combining academic rigour with practical skill-building.
Earlier in her welcome remarks, Head Teacher Hajiya Sa’adatu Ahmed expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their continued support throughout the session. She congratulated the graduating pupils and emphasised the school’s vision of molding well-rounded individuals equipped for the demands of the 21st century.
“The theme for this year’s event, ‘Education and Skills Acquisition in the 21st Century,’ reflects a global shift towards entrepreneurship and vocational education as essential pillars of national development,” she noted.
The school captain,Imamu Kadija Jauro,in an emotional farewell speech, thanked parents and teachers for their unwavering support. She encouraged her fellow pupils to remain committed to learning, respect, and integrity as they move on to new academic challenges.
The highlight of the event was vibrant cultural performances, an engaging talk show, and the presentation of awards and gifts to outstanding pupils, making it a memorable day for all in attendance.
