The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Gombe State Command, on Friday graduated 66 private security guards from 16 licenced Private Guard Companies (PGCs) operating across the state, following a rigorous two-week training programme designed to bolster professionalism in the private security sector.

Speaking during the passing-out ceremony held at the NSCDC Command Headquarters in Gombe, the State Commandant, Jibrin Idris, congratulated the graduating guards and charged them to be ambassadors of discipline, vigilance, and professionalism.
This was contained in a press statement signed by SC Buhari Saad, Public Relations Officer of the command.
“You are now part of a critical force in the security architecture of our country. The role of private guards cannot be overemphasised in protecting lives, property, and vital infrastructure,” Idris said. “I urge you to take the training you have received seriously and use it to serve your companies and communities with integrity.”
He commended the Commandant General of NSCDC, Professor Ahmed Audi, for prioritising the regulation and standardisation of private guard companies across the nation, noting that the consistent training of personnel was a major step in enhancing private security contributions to national safety.
The Head of Private Guard Companies (PGC) in Gombe, Deputy Commandant of Corps (DCC) Otaru Jimoh, earlier briefed the gathering on the content and structure of the training, which he said was designed to ensure high levels of competence and readiness among the guards.
“This training covered key areas including surveillance, conflict resolution, first aid, ethics, and civil responsibility. We are confident that the guards are leaving here better equipped to face security challenges on the field,” Jimoh stated.
Also speaking, the Head of Training and Manpower Development, DCC Mannir Mohammed, encouraged the guards to maintain a high sense of duty and uphold the values of the Corps.
“You have a duty to be alert, professional, and reliable. Your performance on the job reflects not only on your companies but on the NSCDC as a whole,” he emphasized.
In a goodwill message, the Gombe State Chairman of the Association of Licenced Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSN), Mr Abubakar Sambo, represented by ASP John Audu (Rtd.), commended the State Command for its dedication to improving private security standards.
“We are grateful to the NSCDC Gombe Command for providing an enabling environment for quality training. The commitment shown by DCC Otaru Jimoh and his team is highly commendable,” Sambo said.
The Commandant closed the event by appreciating the efforts of officers and personnel within the Private Guard Companies department who facilitated the training.
