Gombe State’s Commissioner for Budget and Economic Development, Alhaji Salihu Baba Alkali, highlighted the success of the technical workshop for the 2026–2028 Medium-Term Sector Strategies (MTSS).

Speaking on Friday in Gombe, he expressed gratitude to Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for approving the MTSS, which aligns the state’s Ten-Year Development Plan (DEVAGOM) 2021–2030 with its budgeting process.
Alkali explained, “The MTSS is a three-year strategy linking our long-term development plan to the annual budget, ensuring robust tracking, ownership, and sustainability.”
He emphasised the state’s adoption of Programme-Based Budgeting (PBB) for 2026, a new approach organising budgetary information around programs and services.
“PBB shows program costs, revenues, and performance metrics, offering a clear view of spending, service delivery, and effectiveness,” he added.
The Commissioner praised the participation of Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs), stakeholders, and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in the workshop. He urged attendees to engage fully, noting that the training has strengthened the budgeting process by promoting transparency, accountability, and data-driven decisions in project selection and implementation.
