The Gombe State Government has declared Friday, as a public holiday to mark this year’s Eid-el-Maulud celebration.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Head of Civil Service, Ahmed Abdullahi, which was signed by Amos Fabulous, the approval was granted by Governor Muhammadu Yahaya.

“The Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has graciously approved Friday, 5th September, 2025 as a public holiday to enable civil servants in the state join their counterparts across the country in celebrating this year’s Maulud,” the statement read.
The HoCS who conveyed the governor’s directive, further extended best wishes to the Muslim Ummah and the general public.
“The Head of Civil Service wishes all Muslim faithful and indeed the general public a peaceful and joyous celebration,” he said.
He, however, emphasised that essential services will continue during the holiday.
“All essential services will be maintained throughout the period while workers are to resume duties on Monday, September 8, 2025,” the statement added.
Eid-el-Maulud, observed by Muslims worldwide, commemorates the birth of Prophet Muhammad.
