The Gombe State Emergency Management Agency, in collaboration with Local Government Councils, on Tuesday organised a one-day workshop for Local Emergency Management Committees (LEMCs) across the 11 Local Government Areas of the state on their roles and responsibilities during emergency situations.

Welcoming participants to the workshop, the Executive Secretary of Gombe SEMA, Alhaji Abdullahi Haruna Abdullahi, charged them to be attentive and make the most of the training.
Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of Gombe Local Government Area, Barr. Sani Ahmadu Haruna, applauded SEMA for initiating the workshop, especially at a time when incidents of natural disasters—particularly flooding—are on the increase.

In attendance at the opening ceremony were the Chairmen of Balanga, Kwami, Funakaye, Nafada, and Kaltungo LGAs, as well as the eleven Heads of the Department of Education and Social Development (ESD) from the 11 Local Government Areas of the state.
Also present were the Branch Secretary of the Red Cross Society of Nigeria and a representative of the Head of Operations of the National Emergency Management Agency, Gombe Operations Office.
Presentations on disaster management, preparedness, and reporting mechanisms are among the key topics expected to be discussed during the workshop.
