Nasarawa United’s prolific striker, Anas Yusuf, has been honoured with the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Golden Boot Award for the 2024/25 season after netting an impressive 18 goals.

The award presentation took place on Tuesday at the Blue Spring Hotel, Abuja, where the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau—represented by the Secretary General, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi—alongside NPFL Chairman, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, presented the prize to the forward. Anas also received a cash reward of ₦2 million.
Anas’ goalscoring heroics were instrumental in helping the Solid Miners secure topflight survival last season. His remarkable performances have earned him recognition as one of the league’s most lethal attackers.
The 20-year-old striker, who also scored Nigeria’s opening goal in the country’s 2-0 Group D victory over Congo at the recent CHAN Championship in Tanzania, has since attracted transfer interest from clubs across the globe.
Speaking after receiving the award, Anas expressed gratitude to God, his family, teammates, coaches, and the club’s management.
“I am truly humbled to receive this prestigious award. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the support and hard work of my teammates, coaches, and everyone at the club.
My deepest gratitude goes to the League organizers, the fans, and the media for their love and encouragement. I look forward to an exciting new season, God keeping us alive and healthy.”
Club’s Reaction
Nasarawa United Chairman, Solomon Babanjah, praised Anas for his outstanding contribution and record-breaking feat, describing him as a “bundle of talent and dedication.”
“Scoring 18 goals in a single NPFL season is no small feat. Anas has now become the fourth player from Nasarawa United to win the Golden Boot, after Silas Nwankwo, Sunusi Ibrahim, and Victor Namo. This shows that our club is not only here to win games but also to produce exceptional talents.”
Babanjah also extended appreciation to Governor Abdullahi Sule, Deputy Governor Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, and other stakeholders for their continued support.
Looking Ahead
Anas will be leading Nasarawa United’s attack when they face Enyimba International in a match-day three NPFL fixture on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba.
The Solid Miners head into the clash buoyed by a 1-0 home victory against Abia Warriors on match-day two at the Lafia City Stadium.
