The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, on Thursday led members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Campaign Council to Anambra State for the official flag-off of the party’s campaign ahead of the forthcoming Anambra Governorship Election.
The campaign rally, held in Awka, was organised in support of the APC governorship candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, and his running mate, Dr Uche Ekwunife.

Akpabio, who serves as Chairman of the APC National Campaign Council for the election, arrived in Anambra alongside key party leaders, governors, senators, members of the House of Representatives, and top officials of the APC National Working Committee.
Addressing a large crowd of party supporters and faithful who thronged the venue, Akpabio said the APC was determined to bring genuine development, infrastructure, and people-centered governance to Anambra State.
“We are here to tell the people of Anambra that the APC represents progress, unity, and renewal. With Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu and Dr. Uche Ekwunife, we have a credible, experienced, and visionary team ready to serve,” Akpabio said.
He urged the people to come out en masse and vote for the APC in the governorship election, assuring them of the Federal Government’s continued support for Anambra’s development under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“The APC government at the centre is committed to ensuring that Anambra gets its fair share of federal projects, investments, and opportunities. What we need now is synergy between the state and the federal government,” he added.
In his remarks, the APC governorship candidate, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, expressed gratitude to the Senate President and the party leadership for their support, pledging to run an inclusive government that prioritises security, education, youth empowerment, and infrastructural renewal.
“Anambra deserves better. Our mission is to build a state where every citizen can thrive, where our roads, schools, hospitals, and markets work for the people,” Ukachukwu stated.
His running mate, Dr. Uche Ekwunife, said the APC’s vision for Anambra centres on restoring public confidence in governance and ensuring that women, youths, and rural communities are not left behind.
“We are offering a government of fairness, competence, and compassion. Together, we can build the Anambra of our dreams,” she said.
Other dignitaries present included serving senators, members of the House of Representatives, APC national officers, and state chairmen from across the South-East and South-South zones.
The rally also featured solidarity messages from APC state chapters, cultural performances, and the formal presentation of the party’s flag to Prince Ukachukwu and Dr. Ekwunife.
