Christians have been called to lead lives of faith, peace, and preparation for eternity, as emphasised by Reverend Haggai Arabs during the funeral service of the Late Barrister Sarki Shama Nyuwar. The service was held at ECWA Pantami, Gombe, on Monday, October 20, 2025.

In his sermon, Rev. Arabs urged the congregation to reflect on the brevity of life and the importance of spiritual readiness. “We must live faithfully and be prepared before death knocks,” he declared. “No one knows the hour; therefore, let us live peacefully with one another and in obedience to God.”

Late Barr. Shama Nyuwar passed away on October 17, 2025, at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, following a prolonged illness. He was laid to rest the same day at the Christian Burial Ground along Bajoga Road in Gombe.

The funeral attracted family members, friends, colleagues, and community leaders, who gathered to pay their last respects to the late legal practitioner and community leader. Emotions ran high as prayers were offered for the bereaved family during the service.
In a condolence message, His Royal Majesty, Kwandai Nunguraya Kurhaye Dishon Dansanda II, described the loss as a painful one for both the family and the entire Nunguraya Nation. “It is a great loss,” the monarch stated. “Barrister Shama was a son of the soil whose contributions to justice and community development will not be forgotten.”
The high point of the funeral service included a solemn prayer session for the family, followed by the final internment at the burial site.
Late Barr. Shama Nyuwar is remembered not only for his professional excellence but also for his dedication to peace and unity in the community.
