In a ceremony marked by glowing tributes and warm appreciation, Elizade University recently honoured two distinguished scholars from its Department of Mass Communication; Professor Felix Talabi and Dr Oluwatosin Adesile, for their dedicated service and academic excellence.
Organised by the Director of Academic Planning and Head of Department, Professor Wole Adamolekun, the event was held after several invitations extended to Dr Adesile, who finally accepted the gracious gesture.
“I had turned down earlier invitations, but I couldn’t ignore the thoughtfulness of Professor Adamolekun. This send-forth was not just a farewell — it was a celebration of years of purposeful work and commitment,” said Dr Adesile.

The ceremony, chaired by Hon. Justice Temitope Adedipe of the Ondo State Judiciary, drew attendance from faculty members, students (past and present), friends, and well-wishers. It was a remarkable occasion that acknowledged the professional milestones and enduring contributions of both honourees.
In 2025, Professor Felix Talabi attained the prestigious rank of full Professor, while Dr Oluwatosin Adesile was promoted to Senior Lecturer, marking significant milestones in their academic careers.
Reflecting on his journey, Dr Adesile noted, “Over the past six years, I gave my all in every capacity I was privileged to serve — from administration to teaching, student mentorship, editorial duties, and research coordination. It was not always easy, but it was fulfilling.”
PERISCOPE NIGERIA reports that during his tenure, Dr Adesile wore many hats within the department and across the university community. He served as acting Coordinator of the Department, SIWES/IT Coordinator, Examination and Timetable Officer, Deputy Postgraduate Coordinator, Level Adviser, and Undergraduate Project Coordinator. He also edited the Journal of Information, Communication and Media Studies and advised various student-led organisations including the Association of Mass Communication Students (AMCOS), the University Debate Society, Elizade University Press Club, EU Creatives, and TEDx Elizade.

Beyond administrative roles, he made notable academic contributions — supervising over 42 undergraduate projects, four Master’s dissertations, and three PGD projects. He also participated in teaching and seminar coordination for PhD students and served on the Board of CORD (Research Directorate), among other committees.
“I’m humbled by the turnout and the kind words shared. It was moving to see how much my work has resonated with students and colleagues. The gifts, tributes, and presence of those I’ve worked with — that’s the true reward,” Dr Adesile said with visible emotion.
The event underscored a profound message about the value of service in the academic environment. “Send-forth ceremonies are more than formalities. They are tributes to meaningful contributions,” Dr Adesile shared. “They remind us that commitment, hard work, and consistency will always speak for you. Be your best, and your impact will pave the way for honour.”
