The Federal College of Horticulture, Dadin-Kowa (FCHDK) in Gombe state, has launched a sensitisation campaign aimed at tackling low student enrolment and increasing public awareness of its academic and vocational programmes across communities within the Yamaltu Emirate Council.
The campaign begun with a courtesy visit to the Emir of Yamaltu, Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu, at his palace in Dadin-Kowa.

During the visit, Acting Provost Dr Umar A. Umar emphasised the College’s commitment to working closely with traditional leaders, government agencies, and community stakeholders to promote education, youth empowerment, and skills development.
“This sensitisation campaign is part of our strategic effort to connect with the grassroots, encourage youth participation in higher education, and showcase the diverse opportunities available at our College,” Dr Umar stated.
In his remarks, the Emir, Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu, applauded the initiative and pledged his full support in rallying political and community leaders to promote enrolment.
He also encouraged the College to sustain its engagement with host communities through educational outreach and employment opportunities.
“Education is the backbone of development, I commend the College for this proactive approach and pledge to support the campaign at all levels” he said
Also, after the visit , the sensitisation drive continued across multiple districts, including Hinna, Gwani, Shinga, Wade, Kwali, Kinafa, Lubo, Difa, Zambuk, Kwadon, Liji, and Kurba.
Our correspondent reports that community and district heads in the areas expressed appreciation for the College’s outreach efforts and commended Dr Umar’s leadership and vision.
