The Executive Chairman, Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State, Princess Surah Animashaun has said the state council would continue to engage, interact and communicate with the youth, believing this would enable them to collaborate and partner with the LGC in achieving the set desired goals and programmes.
She stated this while meeting with youths in the council secretariat, Ita-Marun, Epe, Lagos state, Princess Animashaun said the council has been engaging youths across different sectors to get them involved in how things are done and run in the LGC.
Princess Animashaun reiterated council’s commitment to providing youths with ‘cutting-edge’ facilities and technology, thereby empowering them to reach their full potential, including the desire to drive innovation and growth.
“Indeed, it is imperative to equip our youths for future enduring transformation, legacy and involve them in good governance that will guarantee thier interests in government policymaking and contribute their quota in the council growth and development,” Princess Animashaun said.
The Chairperson explained that the interactive session with council youths aimed to build the capacity of young leaders and inspire them to be better leaders, noting that this is one of the strategies adopted by the council to equip the youth population with relevant skills and knowledge for relevance as potential future leaders.
“In fact, the meeting with council youths will expose to their policy thrust and able to harmonise their programmes with the plans of the youths to jointly position council on a unified pedestal, where both council and the youths will be able to actualise their interests.” Princess Animashaun stated.
The Chairperson said lots of council youths had been previously engaged in policy formulation and implementation in various functions and capacities, highlighting that some of them hold key positions under the current administration, and many others have been empowered.
Princess Animashaun maintained that the youths of the current generation must be determined to have a transformational outlook and create valuable and positive changes in society by associating with people who have developed themselves to fit into leadership positions easily.
