Gombe State Deputy Governor, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, on Saturday described the commissioning of the Abuja–Gombe airlift services by Rano Air as a significant milestone in the administration’s commitment to leveraging air transport to create a more conducive environment for economic growth and development.

Speaking at the ceremony at Gombe International Airport, the Deputy Governor said “the state government has long nurtured the ambition of inviting reputable investors into Gombe, adding that the entry of Rano Air aligns perfectly with that vision.”

Jatau expressed optimism that the new Rano Air service will strengthen connectivity between Gombe,North-East and Nigeria at large, noting that “it comes at a time when passengers have experienced lapses in the operations of other airlines on the same route.”
He said the arrival of Rano Air will not only enhance efficiency but also broaden travel options for business, governance, and social engagements, thereby boosting the state’s economic prospects.
The Deputy Governor assured the management of Rano Air of the unwavering support of the Gombe State Government as they commence full operations.
He encouraged residents, business communities, and travelers to patronise the new service to ensure its sustainability and continued expansion, adding “the partnership reflects the state’s readiness to collaborate with private sector stakeholders for greater development.
In his remarks, the Managing Director of Rano Air, Alh. Lawan Sabo, announced that the Abuja–Gombe flights will operate four times weekly, “on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays,” he added.
He noted that the schedule was carefully designed to serve the needs of government officials, business travelers, and the general public. Sabo expressed appreciation to Governor Muhammadu Yahaya for his unwavering support to Rano Air and his consistent commitment to the wellbeing of the people of Gombe State.
The Managing Director reiterated that Rano Air is determined to deliver safe, reliable, and customer-friendly services in line with global aviation standards, adding that “the airline is excited to expand into Gombe State, the partnership will foster economic activities, improve mobility, and enhance regional integration.”
He assured travellers of the airline’s readiness to maintain punctuality and professionalism in its operations.
Sabo further pledged that Rano Air will continue to work closely with the Gombe State Government to ensure the long-term success of the route, emphasising that the airline values the confidence reposed in it and will keep improving its services to meet the expectations of passengers.
He encouraged the public to embrace the new opportunity and take advantage of the convenience offered by the flight schedule.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by dignitaries including the Head of Civil Service, Gombe State, Alh. Ahmed Kasimu Abdullahi; the Commissioner for Works, Alh.Usman Kallamu Maijama’a; Special Advisers; Permanent Secretary, Deputy Governor’s Office, Mrs. Larai Maigari; Representative of the Commissioner of Police; the Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps; the Sector Commander, FRSC; the Commander, NDLEA; and the Emir of Gona, Alh. Umar Abdulkadir Abdulsalam among others.
