The High Court of Justice sitting in Edo State has granted bail to social activist and philanthropist, Harrison Gwamnishu, following his arraignment over allegations that sparked widespread public reactions on social media.
The development has generated mixed reactions online, with controversial social media commentator Very Dark Man and others reportedly expressing disappointment over the court’s decision.

Reacting to the ruling, Ossai Success, the Media Aide to the Governor of Delta State, took to his Facebook page to announce Gwamnishu’s release, describing the outcome as a victory over what he termed failed attempts by critics to keep the activist behind bars.
“Harrison Gwamnishu has been granted bail at the High Court of Justice in Edo State. Very Dark Man and others are now disappointed. Their plans failed woefully. I am disappointed in them all. Glory be to Jesus,” Success wrote.
Gwamnishu’s arrest and subsequent legal battle had attracted intense public debate, particularly across social media platforms, where opinions were sharply divided. Supporters of the activist maintained that he was being targeted for his outspoken humanitarian activities and advocacy, while critics argued that the legal process should be allowed to take its full course.
With the grant of bail, Harrison Gwamnishu is expected to regain temporary freedom pending the continuation of his trial, as the court adjourned the matter to a later date.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Very Dark Man nor other critics have officially responded to the court’s decision. However, the case continues to draw significant public attention, highlighting once again the growing intersection between social media activism and the Nigerian justice system.
