Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Thursday openly asserted his position as the top leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, shortly after completing his formal registration with the party.
Speaking at the event where he received his membership card, Governor Fubara said the number printed on the card symbolises his status within the party hierarchy.
According to him, “I’m not just a member of the APC; I am the number one in Rivers State. I’ve collected my registration card, and it reads ‘0001’.”
His comments come as political tensions heighten in Rivers State following his recent defection to the APC—a move analysts say will significantly influence the party’s restructuring efforts and its strategies ahead of future elections.
The governor’s declaration is expected to deepen ongoing political realignments as stakeholders react to his new position within the party.
