Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic tanker fire incident that occurred in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of the state.
The incident, which followed the fall of a petroleum tanker, led to a fire outbreak that reportedly affected several vehicles and caused widespread distress among residents and motorists in the area.
Governor Okpebholo described the incident as painful and unfortunate, noting that it has brought grief to families and the Auchi community at large.

“On behalf of the Edo State Government and its people, the Governor commiserated with the Otaru of Auchi, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Aliru H. Momoh Ikelebe III, as well as the entire Auchi Sacred Kingdom over the tragic occurrence.
“This unfortunate incident is a painful reminder of the dangers associated with the transportation of petroleum products on our highways. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Auchi Sacred Kingdom at this difficult time,” the Governor said.
He extended his heartfelt sympathies to individuals who suffered losses, including those whose vehicles and properties were destroyed in the inferno. The Governor also prayed for the repose of the souls of those who may have lost their lives and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
Governor Okpebholo assured the people of Auchi that the state government is working closely with relevant emergency and safety agencies to assess the situation, provide support to affected victims, and put preventive measures in place to avert a recurrence.
He further urged motorists and tanker drivers to strictly comply with traffic laws and safety regulations to protect lives and property across the state.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the safety and wellbeing of Edo residents, Governor Okpebholo called for calm and cooperation with authorities as investigations into the incident continue.
