Veteran Nollywood actress and singer, Jennifer Eliogu, has opened up on the deeply personal decision that led her to step away from her thriving acting career at the height of her fame. The respected thespian revealed that her choice was driven by her commitment to motherhood and the desire to be fully present during her children’s formative years.

Speaking candidly, Eliogu explained that family always came first, stressing that she could not sacrifice her children’s upbringing for professional success. According to her, the early years of a child’s life are critical, as they are highly impressionable and require close parental guidance. She described herself as a “mother hen,” noting that while prayers can protect children anywhere, nothing replaces a mother’s physical presence and nurturing influence during those crucial stages of development.

“I wouldn’t have left my children for my career,” she said. “They were young, and in those formative years, they were at an impressionable stage. I couldn’t be selfish enough to choose my career over my children. I will never at any point choose my career over my family.” Eliogu emphasized that her decision was not a difficult choice between two competing interests, but rather a deliberate sacrifice she willingly made for the sake of her family.

The actress further disclosed that while living abroad, she completely put her acting career on hold and embraced the role of a full-time mother and housewife. According to her, that period allowed her to give her children the attention, care, and moral grounding she believed they needed, even if it meant stepping away from the spotlight she had worked hard to build.

Jennifer Eliogu’s revelation has resonated with many fans and industry observers, highlighting the often unseen sacrifices made by women in the entertainment industry as they balance career ambitions with family responsibilities. Her story adds to the growing conversation about motherhood, choice, and the personal costs that sometimes accompany success in show business.
