The Deputy Governor of Gombe State, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, has praised the Christian Forum of the Deputy Governor’s Office for organising an end-of-year thanksgiving service to appreciate God for His faithfulness throughout the year.
Jatau gave the commendation during the thanksgiving programme held at the Deputy Governor’s Office, describing the initiative as a reflection of spiritual maturity, good upbringing and sound values.
According to him, thanksgiving is a virtue practiced by people who truly know God and understand its importance. He noted that the Bible places strong emphasis on gratitude, adding that the word thanksgiving appears 139 times in the King James Version of the Scriptures.
He likened thanksgiving to family values, explaining that children who show appreciation to their parents are often encouraged and rewarded more.
The Deputy Governor called on Christians to offer continuous prayers for leaders at all levels, for an end to insecurity, and for peaceful coexistence in Gombe State and the country at large. He urged believers to shine as the light of Christ, particularly in challenging times marked by economic hardship and uncertainty, referencing Ecclesiastes 12:1(b).
“As children of God, we must remain steadfast in our service to Him, whether in moments of joy or in times of difficulty,” Dr. Jatau said.
He added that praying for leaders ultimately means praying for everyone, as leadership potential exists in all individuals. He further charged the gathering not to allow anything to separate them from the love of God, assuring that God is always ready to reward faithfulness.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Deputy Governor’s Office, Mrs. Larai Maigari; the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Governor (Deputy Governor’s Office), Mr. Jack A. Tasha; and the Personal Assistant to the Deputy Governor on Investment, Mrs. Shiprah Poloma, commended Dr. Jatau for attending the programme despite his tight schedule. They described him as humble, level-headed and deeply committed to humanity, particularly in supporting Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s development agenda for Gombe State.
In his exhortation, the Leader of the Christian Forum of the Deputy Governor’s Office, Mr. Wilson Jonah Yakubu, said the thanksgiving service was organised to celebrate God’s mercy and faithfulness throughout the year. Speaking from Lamentations 3:22–23, he noted that without God’s mercy, the people would have been overwhelmed by the insecurity and economic challenges facing the nation.
Mr. Yakubu encouraged members of the forum to thank God for preservation, good health and provision, as well as for blessing Gombe State with purposeful leadership under Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and his deputy. He led prayers of thanksgiving and made prophetic declarations for 2026, expressing confidence that the new year would be more prosperous and glorious than 2025.
The programme featured praise and worship sessions, song renditions, and the sharing of a meal in thanksgiving to God.
