The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Gombe State Command, has held its 2025 Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons at the Command’s Salvation Chapel, bringing together officers, men, and their families for a spiritually uplifting celebration ahead of the festive season.

Representing the State Commandant, CC Jibrin Idris, the Command’s Second-in-Command, DCC Abubakar Y. Muri, described the event as “a moment of reflection, worship, and renewed commitment to the values that bind the Corps together.”
He stressed that the teachings of Christmas mirror the ideals at the heart of the NSCDC mandate.
“The values of love, peace, sacrifice, and unity are not just scriptural principles; they are the pillars upon which our operational success rests,” he said.
According to him, unity and cooperation among personnel are essential in fulfilling the Corps’ duty of protecting lives, property, and critical national assets, especially during the Yuletide.

DCC Muri commended the Command’s Chaplain, DSC Edison Madungati, and the organising committee for what he called “a well-coordinated and spiritually enriching programme that has strengthened the bond within the Command and its wider community.”

He further charged officers and men to remain vigilant during the festive period, noting: “We must continue to demonstrate commitment and readiness to ensure peaceful celebrations across Gombe State.”
The Command’s Chaplain, Rev. Edison Madungati, in his remarks appreciated the State Commandant for his consistent support for chapel activities.
“We are grateful for the leadership that continually encourages the spiritual welfare of personnel,” he said.
Rev. Madungati also acknowledged the presence of Muslim attendees, describing it as “a beautiful reflection of the interfaith harmony the NSCDC stands for.” He prayed for a joyous Christmas and New Year celebration for all families within the Command.
Delivering the sermon, Rev. Chris Godobe, CAN Vice Chairman, Gombe State, drew from Revelation 5:1–13, reminding the congregation that Christmas signifies humanity’s liberation and redemption through Christ.

“Christmas is a celebration of salvation and the boundless love of God. It calls us to live lives of compassion, service, and righteousness,” he noted.
The well-attended ceremony brought together Christian and Muslim officers, invited clergy from denominations including EYN, LCCN, GGDM, as well as representatives of sister agencies such as the Police and Federal Fire Service.
The Command described the carol service as a meaningful way to usher in the festive season and reaffirm its commitment to spiritual growth, unity, and community building.
