Organised Football Supporters in Bauchi State on Wednesday sought for clarification from the state commissioner for youth and sports development over the dissolution of the Wikki Tourists Football Club Board.

The supporters in a press statement issued by its chairman, Muhammad Sani Inuwa, which was obtained by PERISCOPE NIGERIA, claimed that the commissioner lacks the authority to make such decisions, which should be the prerogative of the governor of the state.
According to the supporters, the commissioner’s actions raise serious concerns about due process and overreach of authority.
The chairman of the group emphasised the need for transparency and adherence to established procedures, urging the Bauchi State government to clarify the status of the Wikki Tourists FC Board and take disciplinary action against the commissioner for breaching rules and protocol.
“We respectfully seek urgent canification from the Bauchi State Government regarding the recent public release by the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, in which he communicated his alleged approval of the dissolution of the Board of Wikki Tourists Football Club.
“Under established government protocols and civil service rules, the Honourable Commasioner does not possess the constitutional or administrative authority to approve the hiring or dissolution of boards of government owned institutions. Such powers reside solely with the Executive Governor of Bauchi State,” the statement reads partly.
The group said Wikki Tourists FC is a proud institution in Bauchi State, and decisions affecting the club should be made lawfully.
The supporters called for clarity to avoid institutional embarrassment.
