The Gombe State chapter of the City Boy Movement on Friday congratulated Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, on his conferment with an Honorary Doctorate Degree by Lincoln University College, Malaysia.
CBM is a youth-driven political support movement committed to mobilising, educating and empowering young Nigerians for active political participation and governance.
Recall that the honorary degree was awarded to the governor during the university’s 18th Convocation Ceremony held on January 26, 2026, in Selangor, Malaysia, in recognition of his leadership qualities, educational reforms and contributions to societal development.
According to a press statement on behalf of the movement, the Gombe State Coordinator, City Boy Movement, Comrade Dunijir Gatama, described the honour as “a well-deserved global recognition of Governor Yahaya’s visionary and people-centred leadership.”
“This prestigious award is a clear testament to His Excellency’s unwavering commitment to education, human capital development and sustainable governance, which have continued to reposition Gombe State on the national and international map,” Gatama said.
He noted that the governor’s administration has recorded significant achievements in the education sector through data-driven investments, reintegration of out-of-school children, massive infrastructure development and recruitment of qualified teachers across the state.
According to him, the establishment of transnational educational partnerships, particularly the Lincoln University College Nigeria Campus in Kumo, reflects the governor’s long-term vision for expanding access to quality and globally competitive education.
“Under Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s leadership, Gombe State has witnessed remarkable improvement in educational outcomes, including a significant rise in WAEC performance and the expansion of higher and professional education institutions,” Gatama stated.
He added that the City Boy Movement, as a progressive youth organisation, considers the honour a collective victory for the people of Gombe State.
“This recognition goes beyond the individual; it is a source of pride for all Gombe people and an inspiration to our youths to believe in purposeful leadership and excellence,” he said.
The movement prayed for continued wisdom, strength and success for the Governor as he continues to steer the state towards greater development.
