The Federal College of Horticulture (FCH), Dadinkowa, Gombe State, has introduced a staff verification exercise alongside an Electronic Registry (E-Registry) system as part of ongoing administrative reforms.

The acting Registrar of the College, Malam Mohammed Gidado, explained the initiative during an interview on Monday, January 26, 2026, in his office.
The ongoing staff verification exercise at the Federal College of Horticulture, Dadinkowa, has generated considerable interest within the College community, particularly regarding the rationale behind management’s decision.
Speaking on the development, the Acting Registrar explained that the exercise forms part of broader administrative reforms being implemented under the leadership of the Acting Provost, Dr. Umar A. Umar, who assumed office following the expiration of the tenure of the former Provost, Dr. Babawuro Mahmoud Ali.
According to him, the current administration has prioritised reforms aimed at strengthening efficiency, accountability, and transparency in the management of the institution. A major component of these reforms is the introduction of an Electronic Registry (E-Registry) system, designed to digitise staff records and streamline administrative processes across the College.
“Although the initiative may appear long overdue, the reality is that institutions across the world are embracing paperless systems. In that sense, this reform places the College on the path of global best practices,” he said.
He disclosed that the E-Registry system is currently being implemented on a pilot basis within the Registry Department, serving as a test phase for the newly developed software. This phased approach, he noted, will enable the College to identify and address technical challenges before the system is extended to all departments and units.
When fully implemented, the E-Registry will cover all staff of the College, allowing supervising authorities to easily access accurate data on staff strength, availability, and assigned responsibilities. The system is also expected to improve monitoring, planning, and decision-making within the institution.
Malam Mohammed Gidado acknowledged that despite having a substantial workforce, the College has faced challenges related to staff attendance and personnel management. He added that recent developments, including issues surrounding the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) migration, have further complicated staff control.
Nevertheless, he assured that management remains committed to addressing these challenges through structured reforms and improved digital systems.
He concluded by reaffirming management’s determination to modernise the College’s administrative framework, describing the E-Registry initiative as a significant step towards a more efficient, transparent, and accountable institutional system. He also called on staff to give maximum cooperation throughout the period of the verification exercise.
