The Federal College of Horticulture (FCH), Dadinkowa, Gombe State, on January 22, 2026, participated in the official launch of the ProSev Project titled “Using Performance Data to Promote Better Seed Varieties in Nigeria”, a pioneering initiative aimed at revolutionising seed development in the country.
The acting Provost of the College, Dr. Umar A. Umar, alongside the Head of the Department of Agricultural Extension and Management, Dr. Mohammed Tukur, represented the institution at the event held at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja.
Dr. Umar, who delivered a goodwill message on behalf of the College, highlighted FCH Dadinkowa’s commitment to agricultural innovation and research.
He noted that the College has over 100 hectares of land available for research and training, making it an ideal partner for agricultural development initiatives.
He further emphasised that the College remains open to partnerships and collaborations and looks forward to productive engagements capable of driving sustainable agricultural growth in Nigeria.
As part of the project, the College has been selected to host cowpea crop trials, a development that underscores its expertise and dedication to advancing horticultural development and food security in the country. The partnership aligns with FCH Dadinkowa’s mandate to promote agricultural excellence and improve livelihoods.
The ProSev Project is expected to significantly impact Nigeria’s agricultural landscape, and the Federal College of Horticulture Dadinkowa has expressed its pride in being part of the groundbreaking initiative.
