The Taraba State Government on Sunday announced the commencement of a full investigation into a fire incident that affected part of the Wukari Local Government Area (LGA) Secretariat.

The Wukari LGA Chairman, Hon. Bala Useni, disclosed this to journalists in Wukari.
He stated that although the actual cause of the inferno was yet to be ascertained, the local government and the state government were working collaboratively to ensure that all administrative services continue with minimal disruption.
“Despite concerted efforts by men of the fire service, the inferno, which started around 6:00 p.m., escalated for approximately three hours and destroyed seven key administrative departments,” the chairman recounted.

Useni said that although his office was not affected, vital government documents were lost in the incident.
“The Chairman’s block was spared from destruction, but vital government documents and significant infrastructure were destroyed.
“While we are collaborating with the state government to ensure that all administrative services continue with minimal disruption, a full investigation has been launched to ascertain the cause of the fire,” he said.
The council chairman urged residents of Wukari LGA to remain calm, assuring them that modalities were being put in place to ensure the full resumption of administrative activities.
