Popular social media personality and activist, Victor Ojei, has formally petitioned the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) over alleged violations of child rights and privacy by controversial online commentator, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM).

Ojei, acting on behalf of Young Nigerian Rights and Wong Box Nigeria, alongside Hon. Prince Ogbonna, accused VDM of actions that allegedly contravene Nigeria’s Child Rights Act and constitutional provisions on privacy.
In a statement issued on Monday, the petitioners said the move was aimed at ensuring accountability and the protection of minors, stressing that no individual is above the law, regardless of popularity or social media influence.
“The petition seeks a thorough investigation into alleged violations of child rights and privacy. This is not a social media battle but a legal and lawful process to ensure justice and safeguard vulnerable children,” the statement read.
The group warned that attempts to evade accountability, including blocking organisations or individuals on social media, would not prevent the law from taking its course.
“Blocking Wong Box Nigeria or any concerned organisation will not help anyone escape the law. We are prepared to pursue this matter legally and lawfully,” the petitioners stated.
They further disclosed that the petition forms part of a broader campaign to promote child protection, digital responsibility and ethical conduct on social media platforms in Nigeria.
According to the statement, the organisations are determined to follow the case through all legal channels in 2026, urging security agencies to treat the matter with urgency and seriousness.
Efforts to reach VDM for comments on the allegations were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
