Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, on Thursday received the Member representing Yamaltu-Deba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Inuwa Garba, following his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
During the visit, Hon. Garba formally presented his APC membership card to the Governor, which he obtained from his ward in Lubo, Yamaltu-Deba Local Government Area, signifying his full integration into the progressive family.
Explaining his decision, the lawmaker said he was inspired by Governor Yahaya’s purposeful leadership, people-centred policies and outstanding performance across Gombe State, as well as the reform-driven Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
According to him, the APC offers a more credible, stable and development-oriented platform capable of delivering sustainable growth, inclusive governance and lasting prosperity to Nigerians.
“The APC represents the future of progressive governance in Nigeria. I am convinced that under the leadership of Governor Inuwa Yahaya and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our people will continue to enjoy meaningful development,” Hon. Garba stated.
He pledged his unalloyed loyalty and total commitment to the party and its leadership.
In his response, Governor Yahaya welcomed Hon. Garba into the APC fold, commending his courage and sense of responsibility to his constituents.
He described the defection as a strong endorsement of the APC’s performance in Gombe State, and a further validation of the administration’s development-focused governance model, anchored on infrastructure renewal, human capital development, economic diversification and inclusive growth.
Governor Yahaya, who was recently appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Renewed Hope Ambassador and Secretary for Party Outreach, Engagement and Mobilisation, viewed Hon. Garba’s defection as a significant political gain that will further consolidate the APC’s dominance in Gombe State ahead of future electoral contests.
