The Taraba State Government, through the Ministry of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, has announced the commencement of the screening and disbursement of outstanding gratuities and death benefits for 2015 retirees and beneficiaries.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Sarah Enoch Adi, the exercise is scheduled to begin on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the Ministry’s headquarters by 9:00 a.m.
According to the statement, the exercise will cover all eligible 2015 pensioners, as well as a final mop-up for outstanding beneficiaries from the 2013 and 2014 cohorts. The screening and disbursement will be conducted simultaneously.
The statement further disclosed that all primary beneficiaries are required to present original copies of the following documents for verification: a valid identification card, the official pension approval letter, and the letter of first appointment.
“For those processing death benefits, the designated next of kin must present the original Letter of Administration,” the statement added.
While assuring beneficiaries of the Ministry’s commitment to transparency, the Commissioner said the exercise reflects Governor Agbu Kefas’ commitment to the welfare of retired public servants in the state.
She, however, warned that the government had received reports of individuals attempting to exploit the process by illegally soliciting funds from retirees under the guise of facilitating access to their rightful benefits.
“It has come to our attention that certain individuals are attempting to exploit this process by illegally soliciting funds from retirees under the guise of facilitating access to their rightful benefits. The Governor condemns these exploitative practices in the strongest possible terms, as they directly undermine the integrity of this welfare initiative and victimize those it is designed to assist,” the statement read.
It warned that any individual found engaging in such acts would face stringent disciplinary and legal action, stressing that Governor Kefas’ administration remains committed to safeguarding the well-being of both retired and serving public servants in Taraba State.
